The US High Speed Rail Association is proud to endorse HR 6422, the National Infrastructure Bank of 2020, to fund and expedite the modernization of our neglected infrastructure across the nation. With trillions of dollars of urgent needs just to keep the nation operating, and trillions more to modernize with 21st century infrastructure, the Infrastructure Bank is the best way to quickly rebuild America. By pooling public and private funding, and planning comprehensive, multi-disciplinary, multi-sector projects, the bank can be a force for good in efficiently and quickly solving many of the nation’s major problems.

High speed rail is one of the major projects of the National Infrastructure Bank because of its ability to solve multi-sector problems simultaneously and carry America into the 21st century. High speed rail reduces carbon, congestion, costs, accidents, and energy consumption all at the same time.

Building a national HSR network across America will:

• Create millions of jobs across multiple sectors (manufacturing, construction, development, etc.)
• Create more than $100 Billion in real estate opportunities at each station, launching a national boom • Create a whole new high-capacity, fast transportation system free from congestion
• Reduce congestion on our highways and runways
• Better connect the economies of our cities large and small • Stimulate tourism and travel nationwide
• Cut our foreign trade deficit by hundreds of billions (from purchasing foreign oil)
• Create the first business-friendly form of transportation encouraging ease of travel, fast boarding, no
security lines, comfortable and spacious work spaces, and reliable schedules

The support for high speed rail is broad with more than 78% of Americans supporting investment in a national system. It has broad support across the investment community, the real estate development industry, the business community, the travel industry, the construction industry, and the environmental community.

We advocate for building high speed rail in metro regions across America as quickly as possible and support the launch of the National Infrastructure Bank to help expedite this along with the other infrastructure needs of the country - to make America prosperous, modern, and sustainable.

Sincerely,

Andy Kunz
