On January 5, 2023, the NIB Coalition issued this 5-minute video and petition, Pipe Water to the Colorado River: Finance It with a National Infrastructure. This is part of our overall campaign to make 2023 the year of the National Infrastructure Bank (NIB) to build 21^st century infrastructure projects. In addition to this, we will soon release a much more comprehensive video for building high-speed rail, large-scale water projects and upgrading the electric grid.

 All of this is possible with a NIB. The United States used to be #1 as an industrial Nation. To reverse this unfortunate trend, we are calling upon Congress to create the National Infrastructure Bank (NIB), modelled on four previous banks in our history, which built the Nation’s manufacturing, and made the United States a leading industrial power in the world.

Currently, there is a bill in the Congress, HR3339, the National Infrastructure Bank Act, which would create a $5 trillion bank. The NIB would build all the Nation’s infrastructure, with no new federal taxes and no new federal debt.

For example, one of the most urgent concerns, right now, is drought in the Southwest; this must be addressed immediately.

If this drought is not reversed, millions of people will lose electricity, and farmers will be denied water. As this part of the country produces $39 billion of our annual food supply, food prices everywhere will skyrocket.

Large scale water projects, both to alleviate drought and flood, along with other dire infrastructure needs, are possible, but not if we try to finance them through the budget. Only the National Infrastructure Bank can do this. This publicly controlled bank would loan at very low interest rates to state and local authorities to build all U.S. infrastructure, while creating 25 million new, high-wage jobs.
